When Do You Need To Get Your Car Waxed?

23-07-2019 by WebEditor Leave a Comment

Ever wondered when you should and should not get your car waxed? We’re here to answer that very question and to help you become a car waxing expert.

Many car owners are quite diligent when it comes to washing their car, but choose to pass on getting their car waxed. There seems to be a preconceived notion that waxing is not a requirement and won’t make much of a difference.

However, the difference between a waxed and an unwaxed car is astronomical. There are several benefits to getting your car waxed, but it’s sometimes difficult to know when you should and should not get it waxed. In this article, we’ll walk you through exactly how you’ll know when your car needs a wax.

Why You Should Wax Your Car?

As previously mentioned, waxing your car can be incredibly beneficial. The following are just a few reasons why:

  • Paint protection – Waxing is a great way to protect the car’s paint job. Depending on where you live, your car is frequently exposed to the elements. This can eventually damage the paint. If you are planning to sell your car in the future, you will want to preserve the paint job.
  • Fill in tiny scratches – Waxing can fill in some of the tiny scratches that your vehicle might have accumulated over time. While it’s certainly not a clear cut solution for removing scratches, it’s a good stop-gap measure before seeing a car detailing
  • Shinier car – If you think car washing makes your vehicle look good, wait until you wax it. A good wax will make your car shinier and will make it look brand-new. That shiny gloss simply can’t be achieved just by washing alone.
  • Longer lasting – A wax done by professionals can last you a long time. With a proper wax job, you can reap the benefits of it by only getting it done about twice a year in some cases.

How Often You Should Wax Your Car

The beauty of waxing is that you don’t have to do it on a very frequent basis. Most experts recommend that you apply wax to your car at least once every three months. A professional wax job will last even longer (up to 4 to 6 months). This should be good enough to keep your paint protected from the harsh outdoor elements.

How long your wax jobs lasts depends on the type of wax that’s used. Paste or liquid waxes will last for several months, while spray-on waxes have to be re-applied more often.

When Should You Not Wax Your Car?

When the temperature is not right, it might be best to skip on the car wax. During icy weather, it will be quite difficult to get some movement out of the wax. However, waxing beforehand will cause the ice on your car in winter to just slide right off due to the protective layer.

If you have had your car treated with car paint protection or a clear bra, then there is no need to wax. A layer of paint protection or clear bra offers superior protection already. Plus, the wax will build up and collect around the corners of the protection layer.

Car Wax Application Is Always Worth It

Waxing your car is simply one of the best ways to retain its beauty and value. However, it’s important to know when and how to get it waxed. A professional is always key when it comes to maintaining your car’s look and value. Stop in to get your car waxed by a professional and reap the benefits for months to come.
